What do I need to do ?
You know, you don’t actually have to do very much to improve your fitness levels. Small steps are better than no steps and if you’re starting from a low threshold of physical activity, you will feel better whatever you do. And you don’t have to hit a spin class or step foot inside a gym if you don’t want to. All you need to do is move for 20-30 minutes every day. It doesn’t even have to be in one session, so it might be something simple like climbing the stairs more often, or getting off the bus a stop earlier and walking instead. And activity doesn’t have to mean sport either; it’s anything that gets you breathing harder than you normally would. For you, that might be housework or gardening or walking a hill. It might be playing golf or a leisurely bike ride or just a brisk walk. Of course, all of these things can be done alone, but it’s nice to have a few people along for company, isn’t it? There are lots of community clubs out there ready to welcome you and help you stay on track, from running clubs and dance classes to walking groups, buggy fitness classes and yoga. Whatever your circumstances, there will be a group for you.
